Hi,
As the Subject says, I've been using SuSE since 7.0 (or so) and regularly just upgrade rather than make a fresh install but this time when I did that chaos erupted. So, hoping that I would have better luck if I just started fresh, I re-installed 9.0 fresh. Things are no better. (Oh, I have also updated all of the files available through YOU. Well, all except the kernel which YOU has not been able to download. Things are, again, not improved. I also managed, somehow, to get the nVidia drivers installed. Still no improvement.)

Sounds like hardware. Bad power supply, or memory, or cpu fan or?? Memory can do this. A power supply going south will do this too. Had it happen here. Would run for a while, and then for no reason just quit. Eventually the PS quit.
