Hello. FYI, SuSE Linux 8.0 Personal and Professional (no Update) have just been sighted at the CompUSA in Totowa, NJ. I purchased SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional of which there were 8; there were 3 Personal's left. BTW, the date stamped on my box is 04.24.02, which means I got it a day after my store got it. Interestingly, SuSE 8.0 does not appear at compusa.com at all, but 7.3 does. SKU for SuSE 8.0 Professional: 292430 Price: 79.99 USD Things I look foward to testing: 1. YaST2: has it really been improved? is it still bignfat? 2. kernel: I have heard one report where the kernel is not as stable as it could be. 3. configuration file implemention, esp. /etc/sysconfig . was the change from /etc/rc.config worth the trouble? 4. dead-tree manuals: are they are enlightening as the ones that came with 7.2? can SuSE still be crowned the king of documentation? have the shitloads of spelling errors been corrected? is the new /etc structure well-documented? 5. SuSEFirewall2: better than SuSEFirewall? does it take advantage of iptables? -- Karol Pietrzak PGP KeyID: 3A1446A0
