Hi there,
This is my first posting to this list, so please bare with me... :o) Welcome to the group.
I am running SuSE 6.4. At midnight, the jobs from cron.daily start running. However, this process seems to hang every time: 'manpath -q', using 100% processor time. The rest of cron.daily seems to wait for this process to finish, as when I kill this job, the rest will then continue.
Anyone familiar with this issue? Other question: Where can I disable this function when no other solution is found? I tried disabling everything in /etc/cron.daily/aaa_base_do_mandb, but this didn't help anything.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
The problem was common, the solution is as follows:
The problem lies in the /etc/manpath.config. Edit this file and comment or remove the lines begining with MANDATORY_MANPATH which makes reference to some directories that are not on your system.
