Hi Fir,
Lew is right. Canon has, also IMHO, poor support for their printers
and scanner.
For your printer, canon provides drivers for it at their web site.
However if it is like some of their other drivers it will limit You to
a specific resolution and Color printing only. But it will work.
As Lew falso mentioned, You also have canon support on Guttenprint.
You can try it but, with openSUSE 11.4, it may be difficult for you to
find a recent package of it. You may have to build it yourself. Look
at the Evergreen repositories for an updated version of Guttenprint.
Do not despair. I do have a Multifunction Canon device working on
openSUSE. Both scanner and printer over WiFi.
Good luck.

I assembled a new computer (Intel Core i3) and installed Linux SuSE 11.4 but... I can't setup my Canon Pixma iP4700 printer.
The /usr/share/cups/model/manufacturer-PPDs folder contains many folders like brother, epson, hp etc. but not a canon. How can I fix this?
Best regards,
