Both are valid and independent methods that should work normally. Not sure why Dolphin specifically cannot be added. The icon sizes are supposed to be different in each case, because the functionality is not the same. Showing a launcher when not running does exactly that, to avoid clutter on the Task Manager when it *is* running.
