Don't know quite what the problem is--the database is updated from the Internet when you open a terminal with root permissions and enter freshclam. I just updated mine-- here are the last few lines:
Downloading daily-16924.cdiff [100%] Downloading daily-16925.cdiff [100%] daily.cld updated (version: 16925, sigs: 1015110, f-level: 63, builder: neo) bytecode.cvd is up to date (version: 214, sigs: 41, f-level: 63, builder: neo) Database updated (2059538 signatures) from database.clamav.net (IP: 194.186.47.19)
- my openSUSE 12.3 is tumbleweed [ thus not quite applicable ]
. . . upon running "freshclam" product is :
WARNING: Incremental update failed, trying to download daily.cvd WARNING: Can't download daily.cvd from database.clamav.net
{ believe complaint is that latest tumbleweed version of clamav is too old??} ............
best regards
There is a note about this error on the clamav website. I think the solution (from memory) was to delete mirrors.dat (??) and daily.cvd and re-run freshclam.
Check the clamav site for confirmation.
