I have tried Kppp and ezppp with my modem (externel USR x2), but whenever I try to get a connection, both of these programs return the message "the ppp daemon died unexpectedly!". I can get a command line ppp up easy enough, but I am going to be setting up a linux box for someone who probably doesn't have the ability to learn linux quick enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

go to your /etc/ppp/options file, and open it with an editor. If it
contains the word "lock" in it, delete this word, then save the file.
Kppp should work. I'm not sure about Ezppp, but since it looks a lot
like Kppp it may need this also?
