Robin,
Have you been able to get the emerald-themes working with the packages from X11:XGL packages? I can get compiz to work fine on x86_64, but the emerald-themes wont work at all. Just thought I would chack.
David, Yes; I have emerald themes working well. That's the short answer. But if you were to ask me say why or how, the answer has to be longer but it still boils down to "I can't really explain it." Emerald wasn't working one day, and then Lo!- it started working after one of the drops from X11:XGL that came out around Christmas time. Before that, any attempt to use anything other than the KDE Window Decorator resulted in no decorations at all (and also other, more functional difficulties with some applications). The answer at that time was to reload KDE Window Decorator. That's not very helpful, I know. But, for the record, here's what I have aboard at present in opensuse 11.1, using KDE 3.x (I have KDE 4.x as well, but I've not yet migrated to it for reasons other than compiz-fusion): python-compizconfig-0.7.8-2.8 compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-1.53 compiz-emerald-0.7.8-6.3 compiz-0.7.8-20.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-main-0.7.8-6.8 compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported-0.7.8-3.8 compiz-manager-0.0.1_git080201-53.2 compiz-branding-openSUSE-0.7.8-20.1 compiz-kde-0.7.8-20.1 libcompizconfig-0.7.8-3.8 compizconfig-settings-manager-0.7.8-2.8 compiz-fusion-plugins-extra-0.7.8-6.6 fusion-icon-0.0.1_080201-5.1 all from X11:XGL I fire it all up on startup by way of a symlink in ~/.kde/Autostart pointing to /usr/bin/fusion-icon. I can boot to either opensuse 11.0 or 11.1 on this machine, and that arrangement works in both. But there are differences. In 11.0, fusion-icon gives me choices for window decorator including GTK, KDE, Auto and Emerald. In 11.1 I don't get the GTK Window Decorator choice at all; just KDE, Auto and Emerald. I use Emerald in each case, so I haven't bothered trying to trace the reason. Another minor curiosity is that in 11.0, fusion-icon shows up in the system tray complete with its own icon, but in 11.1 it has a plain default icon. This doesn't affect functionality - cosmetic only - so I haven't really tried to fix it. All of that said, I haven't been able to get the stuff from the X11:Compiz repo to work; only X11:XGL. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
