I'm using the crippled Suse 8.2 version. Is there a directory that I can add to the suse installer to get these rpm's so that they are kept up to date?
Yes. There are daily xine updates at: http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/
And an easy faq to tell you what to do. BTW which is the crippled Suse 8.2 version? I've not seen it advertised. Cheers and happy viewing. Steve.
I'm curious. Is MPlayer any better under suse 8.2?
I need a player, I don't care which.
No, Mplayer is no better. A fully functional xine seems to do most everything correctly.
After years of developing viable software we are crippled beyond all previous levels by a bunch of legal wranglings by money hungry butt-heads. So much for innovation. This is a good example of what not to do. I do hope that the EU is not as stupid as the US and is able to limit the software patents. All this is OT, but thanks for the links, I'll give them a try and see what comes out.
