I've worked on these silly things myself and it's hit/miss whether they work or not.
They did/do the job they're intended for. Just because *YOU* say it's hit or miss, just means *YOU* had problems with it...not everyone else.
They barely work in Linux in most cases, and where they do work, openSUSE support is very limited if it's there at all.
