John, If you have all the plugins installed for XMMS, you should be able to listen too and save the streams with it. It will stream realplayer files, so you shouldn't have any trouble.
Unfortunately, xmms stopped playing realplayer files after I installed RealPlayer 10 :-( There doesn't seem to be an equivalent file to the RP8 plugin in the RP10 distribution. I found that Kaffeine would play the file, and tried to save it from there. However, it seems to be protected because Kaffeine complained that it couldn't save copyright-protected material. I guess that, if the BBC want to keep it live only, I'll have to live with that.
