As I mentioned, I have been doing this for a long time. My email is set to use HTML by default and only use plain text when specified in the address book, as I do for this list. It also affected both apps very recently. Can you post a sample web page to try reproduce?
I often paste the editorial cartoons from here: https://www.thestar.com/opinion/editorial_cartoon/2018/05/10/theo-moudakis-f...
When I tried to do that yesterday, it failed. Last week it was working fine.
Right, it doesn't work, I get an empty box with some broken icon at the left (I'm trying with the main figure, a Kevin Spacey cartoon). However: On the page, right click, save link to image (image location). On the mail, click on icon to insert link, select insert image, paste the link location in the dialog. The image displays, but it is a link that has to be loaded at the destination. So try LibreOffice Writer. Direct copy-paste to LO works. Now select the image on LO, copy, then paste on TH: also works. The draft is 2MB in size, so the image is actually there, not a link. I used TH 52.7.0 (64-bit), FF ESR 52.7.3 (64-bit), LO Version: 6.0.3.2 Build ID: 00m0(Build:2), in Leap 42.3 The problem is the page, though: I googled for house, right clicked on the first image, copied it instantly. Another alternative is to save the image to file, and import that... -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
