While updating SuSE 9.1 w/ the latest version of APT/Synaptic, I get the following error when it comes time to (auto)installing a package. This doesn't occur with every downloaded package but about 30 to 40% of them:
"Checking GPG signatures... Unknown signature /var/cache/apt/archives/xvid_1.0.0-0.pm.0_i686.rpm: (SHA1) DSA sha1 md5 (GPG) NOT OK (MISSING KEYS: GPG#5277a2fa)
Failed to apply all changes! Scroll in this buffer to see what went wrong"
Needless to say, there's nothing to scroll down to as the above is the entire message. Any idea what this is and how to fix it? Any and all help appreciated!

You need to set checking to 'no' in the script that checks GPG signatures. I think that'll fix it..
Okay, sounds reasonable. Now where is this script so I can edit it...
Zach OOkay... look in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/gpg-checker.conf. Hint: you have to be root to change the file content. -- ...CH SuSE 9 Works Linux user# 313696 Linux box# 199365
