In my ongoing quest to get suse on an Eeepc just the way I want it I encountered a problem: While fixing the Madwifi drivers I get the error: "Error: file /lib/modules/2.6.25.5-1.1-pae/build/.config: no such file or directory." when I perform make install. I tried "cp /lib/modules/2.6.25.5-1.1-pae/build/makedumpfile.config /lib/modules/2.6.25.5-1.1-pae/build/.config" , but I when I tried to make install again it told me: "ath_hal/ah_target.inc:5: *** ARCH must be defined". Stop" . Does anyone have a clue as what is wrong and, more importantly: Does anyone know how to fix or circumvent this?
SUSE does not include .config files of standard kernels. You can re-create it, if I remember correctly, by doing
make cloneconfig
in /usr/src/linux

Thanks for the idea, but in /usr/src is no folder "linux". There is a
linux-2.6.25.5-1.1-obj but in this folder is no cloneconfig. There are
2 folders there, i386 and i586, but none of them have a cloneconfig in
them (and I tried, just to be sure, make cloneconfig in all of them,
but to no avail: "make: *** No rule to make target 'cloneconfig'.
Stop.")
