I do not know that this actually does anything, but I no longer have a problem with packman mirrors. maybe worth a try...
Now THAT is interesting! It implies that the zypp library can deal with multiple sources, step and repeat. it means I could, for example, start with UWaterloo, which is my geographically closest, and set min_speed to something that is prejudicial to poor performance there. Then, when that' rejected, try something less local, or even, finally, mirrorbrain. IF-BUT-MAYBE ...
