Well there's quite a lot about 7.1 on the main page already, esp. on the new one we put up tonight (so far the rsync has updated it only on the .de server: http://www.suse.de/en/support/oracle/
I did read this info this morning. Any idea on how "shortly" SuSE Linux for Oracle8i will be available?
I'm currently running Oracle 8.0.5std patched to 8.0.5.1. By your almost frantic first response, should I expect this to blow up in my face?
I thought you're running 8.1.x, didn't expect to still find an 8.0.x out there...
We're running it as a back end to an MRP software package. The software vendor has only recently certified their product for use with 8.1.7, so I'm sticking with 8.0.5.1 for now.
Don't know about 8.0.x. It should work since you use the glibc-2.0 compatibility environment for installation anyway, and after installation it shouldn't matter. That means if you upgrade a system where an 8.0x or even an 8.1.x is already installed it should work just fine.
Does this mean I don't need to waste time installing the g20* stuff from 6.4 as per the SuSE/oracle site? I noticed that this was part of the install for 7.0, but isn't listed for 7.1. Sorry for the OT here, I guess I should have started a thread on the suse-oracle list.. Thanks again Michael, Ken -- "We can build a better product than Linux..." -- Microsoft VP Jim Allchin
