I have SuSE V8.2 running OK on a couple of PC's. What I would like to do is setup a new hard drive with SuSE so that the hard drive could be taken and installed in another PC (locally or remotely) and that PC being able to boot up without any video or other issues. The concept being that the PC receiving the HD may have a totally different video card/monitor/hardware cofiguration to that on the first PC where the software was installed on the PC. My thought was that if I use a local PC and install SuSE, set the video/graphics to VGA then that drive should fire up in most PC's, and video/sound/network settings could then be adjusted for that particular PC. Would this work OK? Or is there a better way to do this. If the setup is done on Intel based PC's and the drive is put in an AMD processor PC are there new issues? Any comments appreciated.
