If you actually *read* the warning, you'd see that it specifies not to compile a 2.0-series kernel with it, and says nothing about 2.2 kernels.
You got it, Jon. The reason egcs should not be used for 2.0.x kernels is actually not that there are bugs in egcs, but that the 2.0.x kernels depend on some undocumented features of gcc. So the fault is with the kernel, not the compiler.
