Not sure if I understood your question correctly, but if you want to use the Java2 plugin in Konq or Mozilla, you have to install the corresponding netscape-plugin. the J2RE alone doesn't do it.
Now, I don't know if blackdown offers a netscape-plugin for their JRE, but Sun does. On the installation instructions of the donwload pages, Sun tell you how to do this.

You don't necessarily need a separate plugin if your jdk/jre comes with the appropriate libraries. I use the IBMJava2-SDK that came with SuSE 7.3 and made it available to mozilla, netscape, et al. by making the symlink below. In /opt/{mozilla,netscape}/plugins: libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/lib/IBMJava2/jre/bin/libjavaplugin_oji.so So, in case that doesn't make sense, look for a similarly named file in your jre hierarchy and execute the following: cd /opt/netscape/plugins ln -s /usr/lib/IBMJava2/jre/bin/libjavaplugin_oji.so libjavaplugin_oji.so Of course, substituting your plugin file in place of the IBM plugin above. Then, fire up konq and enjoy. Good luck, -jrh
