Hello Koos, No, there was no proxy. Download varied in the 200k/s to 500k/s range with gftp. Our cable technician said that I might be the only person on this cablesystem node, but I doubt it as I've seen download times drop around 8-9pm local time. Several people have said that xftp runs as fast as gftp on their system, but they did not say if they had a 28.8k modem or a faster connection. Rob. Koos Pol wrote:

Do you use a proxy server? Maybe unkowingly? This would be a valid explenation for this speedy download. I am not familiar with your local situation, but 500k/s is extremely fast. I doubt if that would be possible on a regular basis using a cable modem.
