what does "host server" say? host server tells me: 'server.rauch-webdesign.local has address 192.168.0.1' but i noticed that even a 'ssh server' fails like everything else. rename your local net: ".local" is a registered pseudo toplevel domain registered for mdns responder. Try to disable mdnsd in the runlevel editor. mdnsd is disabled, as i don't need Apple Rendezvous. I even disabled nscd for testing, since it once made problems on my 9.3 box.
Hi rauch, do you run lwresd? what's the contens of your /etc/resolv.conf? what's the contens of your /etc/nsswitch.*? what's the contens of your /etc/host.conf?
I will try renaming my domain to something other, but i thought .local was for internal domains not available to the inet, because they are not assigned to anything?
That's a problem, how "dnsmasq" handles such requests...
Please correct me if i'm wrong!
Not really sure about this. I know that Apple has registered this (pseudo-)tld for Rendezvous. There was an article on developer.apple.com, but I can't remember the exact URI. -- mdc
