I tried that. Curiously, when I just try to run ./Limewire command, I get:
peterbethke@linux:~/LimeWire> ./LimeWire No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH environment variable. You must install a VM prior to running this program.
This seems like it might be a clue. How best can I remedy this? I'm not familiar with setting PATH variables with Java.
You're not trying to run it as root I hope? Make sure that /usr/lib/java/bin is in your path export PATH=/usr/lib/java/bin:$PATH if it isn't. You should have it in /etc/profile already, but put it in your user's .bashrc if it isn't
