We have a new Mac in the office, sort of BYOD style - as in, "I don't mind, but you're on your own for support". Well, I should have known better :-(
Printing to our printers over cups seems to be an issue from the Mac. It looks like print jobs are queued, but they never print. Given that CUPS is Apple software, this is difficult to accept ...
A bit more information might help.
Yeah, I appreciate that.
What are the printers?
Kyoceras, FS-C5015N.
Do they support Bonjour? Can the mac see them using lpinfo? What's in the logs? etc
The printers are not accessed directly, only by way of our central CUPS print server. The Mac can see them, and print jobs are queued, but only locally on the Mac.
When you say the Mac can see them, you mean applications list the CUPS server's queues for the printers in their print dialogs? Can you send a print job from the command line? What's in the Mac's logs and the CUPS server's? What does lpstat show?
I was under the impression that this sort of thing should "just work" with a Mac - we have occasionally had people with Windows laptops visiting, they've had no problems. (mind you, that was with Samba).
