What could went wrong? In general, the dependencies of apps on libKF5 are subtle. For example, this problem also exists in sddm. If the subtle dependencies go awry, as in your case, it spits out a dependency error, but displays a login screen that is different from my configuration. In this case, the solution is to align the libKF5 files with a specific version. This is often the case when using KDE:Extra. Conclusively, I believe that the reason is that the dependency is not well defined. So, the solution in your case is to find a set of libKF5 file(s) that are compatible with digikam.
