Is there a way of hiding the dotfiles all together? My users are a bit stupid, and keep wanting to enter those folders. And as they are linuxspecific (and most often system files) i dont want them tampered with. They keep viewing hidden files on their own workstations. so setting the view hidden wont work.
I dont want them to be seen at all in listings. Is there a way to make that happen?
I haven't tried it myself, but "veto files" perhaps? Something like
veto files = /.*/
could be worth a try
Hmm. Semi works..
The directory is hidden, but i cant cd into it. Not a too bad thing, but a little cumbersome as i as admin sometimes need to access those folders from a windows box.
But well.. i can always fire ssh up :)
Thanks for the tip.
Make a second share with a different name. Use "copy = originalshare" and override the veto files directive (set it to "veto files = ", then grant read access only to your admin users + set browsable to no - depending on how much you want to keep the other users out. Then when you need your full admin access, just go to your super secret share. Using the copy= directive helps with admin headaches, so if you change something in the one share those changes get propogated to your copy. --Danny
