And another question is ... how can I turn on/off SCSI emulation for a specific drive in SuSE 8.0? So let's say, if the kernel update turns my DVD drive into a SCSI emulated one, which file do I need to hack to get it back to normal again? I definitely am not keen on running a drive under SCSI emulation if I don't have to.
Unless it has changed, there is a boot parameter, hdx=ide-scsi (x=which drive it is) you can either type in or put in the append line in lilo. AFAIK, without this line all IDE drives SHOULD be detected and treated as IDE drives, not scsi emulated. I just installed the 231 build of the kernel, and this version does work this way.
