Hi,
I have a machine set up with opensuse 11.3. The uptime is now 10 days but I see that nearly all computing processes are slow.
For example one process that uses no I/O and does not wait but heavily computes on some data already read in only consumes 2% of the cpus.
Did anyone see similar problems?
Christoph
i'm running 11.3 x86_64(kde) with only 3gb ram. and i experienced what you are saying at first but now it's all smooth. in my opinion it's unlikely that it's cpu related it's the memory-hog applications that are slowing it down. in my case gconfd and tracker-miner(and the whole tracker related processes) that were a big issue. i just removed ~/.gconfd and uninstalled tracker and that was solved. also i was using opera which quickly turned into a big memory hog of it's own(easily consumes over 400Mb) but now i'm using firefox4 beta from the trunk and it's quite smooth rarely does it get over 300Mb. i suggest you see which applications are consuming a lot of memory and also think of upgrading your kernel to 2.6.36 if you haven't done so already. also i shouldn't go without noting that plasma-desktop consumes a lot of memory if left running for a few days but it's quite ok for the first day or two. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
