Man you sure said it all there. Such a perfect example of what's wrong with the way software has been developed and distributed. This problem is a 100% artificial problem. Two different companies profit motives, actively causing, as well as passively declining to help resolve, features that (by some shortsighted animal logic) profits them, at the expense of being counter-productive for everyone else, including their own customers, their own customers more than anyone else really.
