It looks like Yast and CUPS don't test the USB ports for printers, only serial, parallel and network.
Fred
usually, usb printer are installed silently, without any user intervention. I don't know what is your problem, but if the printeer stopped working, it may be the same problem that prevent it to install
jdd Thanks jdd
The printer works fine on Win7 when connected via USB. Yast and CUPS don't seem to be checking USB, the Yast/"Hardware Information" shows the printer connected to the USB -see below. 58: USB 00.0: 10900 Printer [Created at usb.122] Unique ID: 7bWa.pktLE_boEvF Parent ID: pBe4.3f5c44ENLJ9 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:13.2/usb2/2-3/2-3:1.0 SysFS BusID: 2-3:1.0 Hardware Class: printer Model: "Samsung Electronics CLP-320 Series" Hotplug: USB Vendor: usb 0x04e8 "Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd" Device: usb 0x329f "CLP-320 Series" Revision: "1.00" Serial ID: "Z4PGBAGB400971X" Driver: "usblp" Driver Modules: "usblp" Speed: 480 Mbps Module Alias: "usb:v04E8p329Fd0100dc00dsc00dp00ic07isc01ip02in00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: usblp is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe usblp" Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #57 (Hub) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
