I am not sure if I can ask for assistance in figuring out something on a SuSE 9.3 box here, but I am experiencing a problem over SSH on a SuSE 9.3 box being that commands must be typed and executed multiple times before it actually runs the command in question. Has anyone else seen this? It started occuring when I first began using xterms, and would only happen during an xterm session but now happens on a regular SSH connection. Any help is appreciated.
Hi Jason,
The first things to check are usually the basics, like the keyboard isn't for some reason going flaky (set up correctly? marginal keys?)... or if you're using a shell on a desktop with focus set to follow the mouse. In this case, your pointer must stay positioned over the shell window. If it gets bumped and your pointer 'drifts' onto the desktop your keystrokes get sent to the desktop, not the shell. There's the quality of the connection to consider, as well. Are you seeing many dropped/lost packets or other errors when you ping the host? What about the process load on the host? Are other services or users consuming a lot of resources on the host and 'starving' you of cpu time? Are you compiling something on the client when this happens? ;-)

Carl
Appreciated, but after a little research it only seems to occur when I run anything that involves a 'sudo' command. Could it be that the original binary has been replaced? Any tips, pointers is appreciated. -- Jason Gerfen "When asked what love is: Love is the Jager talking." ~Craig Baldo
