* Robert C. Paulsen Jr. (paulsen@texas.net) [011028 12:41]:
->My /var/spool/mail is getting a pair of messages every 5 minutes,
->and it's been going on for days:
->
->ruleset=check_mail, arg1=, relay=localhost [127.0.0.1], reject=451 4.1.8 Domain of sender address moneysource@delphi.net does not resolve
->from=, size=6905, class=0, nrcpts=0, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=localhost [127.0.0.1]
->
->My setup is to use fetchmail to get mail from my POP3 account and
->deliver it locally via sendmail. Fetchmail goes to the POP3 account
->every 5 minutes. When the attempt is made to deliver locally, the
->above two messages from sendmail show up in the log.
->
->I checked and sure enough delphi.net doesn't resolve.
->
->I tried setting SENDMAIL_NOCANONIFY=yes in sendmail.rc.config but
->this didn't help. (And, yes, I did run "SuSEconfig" and "rcsendmail
->restart".)
->
->Any ideas on how to automatically remove the offending message
->from my POP3 account? I know I can do it manually, but would
->rather figure out how to automate it for the future.
I would suggest having fetchmail pop your mail and hand it off to
procmail for delivery. Sendmail is too cranky when used as a delivery
agent. Procmail works fine...
