Folks, I've been helping a friend convert their Windows machine to SuSE... Has anyone successfully installed the Lexmark Z600 inkjet (USB) under SuSE 9.2 ? Oh, before I forget, it's SuSE installed on a Sony VAIO w/256MB and P4-2.4Ghz. I have spent many hours over the last 3 days with no joy. Basically, I installed CUPS and it did not find the printer, but it did find "on" out there on /dev/usblp0 and would not configure it properly. Seaching the web, I found Thorton's Home Page where he describes installing a Dell A920 (Z600 printer rebranded), but for RedHat 9.0. Next, I dropped over to Lexmark's site and read what I could there under the Linux DDK and grabbed a copy of the PPD they had there for the Z600 series. The version of CUPS installed is 1.1.21-16 (latest as of last week). After following Thorton's directions, I got the PPD installed in /usr/share/cups/model/Lexmark and CUPS found it on the next pass. The printer installs just fine (according to YAST), but will not respond to test pages, etc. Next I fired up CUPS via http://localhost:631 and walked through the manager: A) stopping and restarting the printer. B) resumitting a test page C) Deleting and recreating the printer. Still no luck. I checked the permissions on /dev/usb/lp0 and /dev/usblp0 and both allow "rw". Is there anything else I can try, or something I missed? This is the last piece of the puzzle for him to have a fully functional machine that's better than he last saw it. Thanls in advance, ...Paul
