Is the module for the usb hub loaded? Thie would be one of the modules from kernel/drivers/usb/host in the module directory for the kernel (which one depends on your chipset)
Well spotted, I just looked at a previous copy of lsmod I saved away and did a modprobe of some, this is how it now looks, I thought it looked a bit light.
