I used to use mt to retension the tapes and tar to create/restore backups but both say no device when I use /dev/ftape. Any ideas, anyone?
Have a look at our online support database at http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/index.html . There's an article about floppy streamers, see if that'll help you. If not, feel free to ask.

OK. Seem to getting somewhere now. Now I get mt: /dev/nqft0: Device not configured when I try mt -f /dev/nqft0 rewind or whatever. I assume this means I need some parameters somewhere, but where?
