If this could happen, I would appreciate it as well.
I don't read factory, so sorry, if this was discussed there.
Same for me.
But in future I would really like the community to be asked, if features like the packages selection in yast are dumped. There is no replacement, and it is an important feature in heterogenous environments, where autoyast is not feasible. So is it until now simply up to the coder of zypp, which features are supported and which ones not? As this "bug" was reported before the final release, what are the criteria for decisions in the beta phase? Manager (who wants SUSE Linux as test bed for the enterprise version) over release engineer?
I can see several problems: 1) Some decisions are strategic decisions made by Novell. I don't think that the community is going to have any influence on these decisions. They are mainly made at the (upper) management level, and they are mainly driven by the enterprise products not by the SUSE Linux OSS products. 2) If you asked the community, whether e.g. package ABC could be dropped, I am sure that some people would tell you that they still use package ABC and that, of course, it should not be dropped. So who is then going to decide? If things like that are discussed on opensuse-factory, I think we should have a summary about the major outcomes on this list as well (from time to time). It's simply impossible to follow all lists with the appropriate attention... Well, at the end of the day, it's up to Novell and Novell employees to put something like your proposal into action. Core team, any suggestions?
