You might also want to look at Inkscape, since it is the now the active development branched off from Sodopodi. The new 0.37 version has many new features and improvements. Start here: http://inkscape.org/ I thought my SuSE 9.0 specific build was posted on the downloads area, but do not see it. It is built for 9.0 and while I am running KDE3.2, I don't believe that would be a problem for KDE 3.1 users, since it's a GTK+ program.
