Hello, I would need something like the Adobe Illustrator under Linux and before I will try wine, I would like to know, if there is some alternative. The OpenOffice Draw-program has some of the functionality, but as far as I know only 72 dpi output, so, does anyone know a possibility? You might also want to look at Inkscape, since it is the now the active development branched off from Sodopodi. The new 0.37 version has many new features and improvements. Start here: http://inkscape.org/ I thought my SuSE 9.0 specific build was posted on the downloads area, but do not see it. It is built for 9.0 and while I am running KDE3.2, I don't believe that would be a problem for KDE 3.1 users, since it's a GTK+ program. Can anyone suggest how to get this to build on SuSE 8.2? I've tried but it fails because I don't have sigc++-1.2. I can install libsigc++-1.2, but how do I get the devel package installed as well? Alternatively, is there a recent (0.37) SuSE 8.2 package anywhere that anyone knows of? I looked but couldn't find one. If you're like me, NOTHING comes close to Illustrator. I've used Gimp (Photoshop-like) program but my productivity is horrible on it because I don't know all the quick keys and trying to find what I need is a real pain. Gimp is a nice program, but the learning curve is pretty high in trying to become accustom to it after using Photoshop for 10+ years. Illustrator - Here's what I did. Get Codeweaver's Crossover Office...like wine. I run Photoshop, Illustrator, and Pagemaker (when I have to) on it and it works pretty well. Not as smooth as using it on a Windows box, but it's the second best option...plus you won't have any problems with sending the files to printers. www.codeweavers.com Tom -- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com

You can run AI on wine by using the version available from Crossover Office which is working to make all windoze apps functional on linux, but when I tried it on AI 9.0, it was too slow for my taste, but then again, my AI files are very complicated. -- Tony Alfrey tonyalfrey@earthlink.net "I'd Rather Be Sailing"
