I have just installed Gimp 1.3.14 from usr-local-bin and notices that Perl support seem to be removed from Gimp, plugins written in Perl do not work anymore, even when installed with gimptool --install-admin-script. Anyone knows how to bring back Perl support into new 1.3.14 Gimp?
This is provided by the gimpperl package, which is a Perl module. It depends upon the Gtk-Perl module, which is built against the 1.2.x version of GTK+. Now, the problem is that the 1.3.x version of GIMP is of course built using the 2.2.x version of GTK+. So, in answer to the question of what is required, the GTK-Perl module needs to be rewritten to use GTK+ 2.x.x, and the gimpperl module rewritten to use the new GTK-Perl.
