Why aren't the drives at ID4 & ID 6 being detected by Linux during boot? Both drives show up in the Adaptec bios. Is this a cable limitation? If so why do all drives show up in the Adaptec bios but not under Linux? Are there additioal paramters I need to provide to have Linux detect all six drives?
I am trying to string the drives on the Adaptec controller in a RAID 0 configuration (strip set).
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'd double-check and then triple-check the termination settings of the drives and cable and controller, SCSI ID settings of all the drives and try at least one other SCSI cable on all the devices on the Adaptec. Then I'd also check the power supply for the system and make triple sure you have enough power for all these devices. I don't think a 400 watt supply would be adequate to handle all these plus CD drives, video card, NIC(s), etc. When doing a RAID 0, all these older drives will be spinning and accessing all the time using lots of power. Newer drives may have 10x the capacity but they will use as much power as these older drives. 10 drives and how bug is the power supply? And what else is in the system? Stan
