Did you have to manually copy the mplayerplug-in.so file to firefox/plugins? It wouldn't work for me until I did that (after YASTing mplayerplug-in), but afterwards it was fine (this is with Firefox 1.5, which doesn't appear to have the Help/About Plugins menu).
I just completed a lengthy thread on this exact topic wherein I provided a thorough description of mplayerplug-in link locations. rpm should install the .so and .xpt files in /usr/lib/browser-plugins and place links where they are needed. If you have to manually intervene, the thread I've referenced can be viewed here (use the 'prev' and 'next' in thread to navigate): http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=suse-linux-e&m=113493418520988&w=2 Also, "about:plugins" (no quotes) in the address bar has always worked. The help menu item was merely a convenient shortcut.
The only lingering issue I have is an odd video refresh problem, where if I alt-tab'd to another window while the video is buffering (slow connection), when I come back the plugin window stays gray unless I grab the window and move it around.
I have the same behavior on this system, too. It isn't a show-stopper for me (pun intended) ;-) so I haven't felt compelled to bother with it. regards, - Carl
