Hi, I tried to use LibreOffice to open a .doc file for a friend of mine so he could fill it out for a job app. However, it won't open up in LO Writer (LibreOffice 3.5:build-413) correctly on Opensuse 12.1 or 12.2 on three different computers.
"That thing never works!" Bull. :) I could post hundreds of screenshots of myself using LO to manage multiple-hundred page documents and it working perfectly.
Specifically, it doesn't provide a correct graphic display of the document. Also, it doesn't allow anyone to type in information in the appropriate blocks.
Perhaps the document is open read-only? Because then you can't type anything into it - it will not let you modify a document if it knows your changes are going to be lost [if you save the file to a filename then it becomes RW].
-Skymark 2 shows the document opened with LibreOffice Writer. One may see that there is a superimposed block on the top of the second page on the right, placed in the wrong position on the document. LO won't allow the cursor to be placed in any block to type information into the application.
Yes, I have seen funky table flow from imported documents in the past. Table placement is the most buggy issue I have seen going back-and-forth between applications; possibly second is font-mapping, which can cause size changes [that isn't really a 'bug' however, if font X isn't available it has to be replaced by something - and thus size changes are inevitable].
http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/4830/23646315.png -Skymark 3 shows that LO has invented a second blank page for the document, which doesn't show up in any other word processing program (Textmaker, MS Word). I have scrolled down to near the bottom of the first page to show the blank second page residing under the first.
Expected if there is some overflow because the size of objects is calculated slightly differently. This issue goes both ways, or in all directions.
Perhaps someone knows how to rectify this situation and set LO to working correctly. I hope that no one is offended by Rocky and Bullwinkle. They were just having a little fun.
