Can somebody explain me how to setup russian in my SuSE 8.1? I need following: 1. Keyboard layout switching (by Ctrl-Shift as windows or smth like this)
place the following in /etc/X11/XF86Config, instead of their keyboard config. this sets up Ctrl-Shift as a layout switch, and Scroll-lock led on keyboard as RU/EN indicator. Section "InputDevice" Driver "Keyboard" Identifier "Keyboard[0]" Option "MapName" "Standard Keyboard [ pc102 ]" Option "Protocol" "Standard" Option "XkbLayout" "ru" Option "XkbVariant" "winkeys" Option "XkbOptions" "grp:ctrl_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll" Option "XkbModel" "pc102" Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" EndSection
2. Correct __UGLY__ russian fonts in Mozilla
Get the Microsoft TTF fonts from: http://corefonts.sf.net and more: here is config for russain console: in /etc/sysconfig/console: CONSOLE_FONT="Cyr_a8x16.psfu" CONSOLE_UNICODEMAP="cyralt.uni" CONSOLE_SCREENMAP="koi2alt" CONSOLE_MAGIC="(K" CONSOLE_ENCODING="KOI8-R" but the following is needed for it to work corectly in text-console: create the following file: /etc/profile.d/local-fixconsole.sh and put theresomething like this: #!/bin/sh if test "$TERM" = "linux" ; then . /etc/sysconfig/console if test -n "$CONSOLE_MAGIC" -a "$CONSOLE_MAGIC" != "none" ; then echo -en "\033$CONSOLE_MAGIC" fi fi have a lot of fun ;-)
