it's pretty obvious, actually: with "twin views" both monitors use the same X server, whereas "separate X server" needs two of them: double the overhead.
using 'twin views' instead of two X-servers i'm also able to use desktop effects. unfortunately this causes Xorg to hang around 20-40% CPU again. may have something to do with the fact that 2.6.35 (in openSUSE) isn't the final version, but a release candidate, i.e., some debugging overhead. no problem though: who needs eye-candy? -- phani. PS: sorry for this monologue, but i figure this might be useful for people who find themselves in a similar situation; i've seen a lot of complaints about sluggishness & slow performance in this list. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
