What release of SuSE, and are you using a custom or stock kernel? How did you format the floppy? Did you use fdformat(8) - This does the low level format Have you tried to mount it without the -t option? Have you tried the use the mtools packages. Mtools allows you to read/write floppies without mounting and unmouting. Have you mounted a flash menory device. These are also formatted with VFAT. after formatting a floppy without problem, when I try to mount it I have
peter:/home/jdd # mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /media/floppy/ mount: type inconnu de système de fichiers 'msdos' peter:/home/jdd # mount -tvfat /dev/fd0 /media/floppy/ mount: type inconnu de système de fichiers 'vfat'
the same floppy mounts perfectly with ext2 file system (fstab is "auto")
How can I make mount know about floppies?
thanks jdd
