What release of SuSE, and are you using a custom or stock kernel? How did you format the floppy? Did you use fdformat(8) - This does the low level format Have you tried to mount it without the -t option? Have you tried the use the mtools packages. Mtools allows you to read/write floppies without mounting and unmouting. Have you mounted a flash menory device. These are also formatted with VFAT. What release of SuSE Sorry for this since the subject specifies 10.1.
On my laptop (10.1) the vfat module loads automatically when I plug in a USB
flash stick.
Try loading vfat manually before mounting the floppy.
'modprobe vfat'

Try mounting without using the "-t" option, let the kernel figure out the filesystem type. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
