Silly one but it happened... I was making my bootdisk - lilo doesn't seem to like my setup and did the usual dd if=/boot/vmlinuz etc followed by :- rdev /dev/fd0 /dev/hda2 and rdev -R /dev/fd0 1 except that it should have been /dev/hda3, consequently it crashed on next reboot big-time. Anywaty, I inserted my 7.0 bootdisk, booted my instakked setup and got back to a prompt, I then retyped the rdev commands but forgot to change disks.. The effect of this is to shag my 7.0 bootdisk I have managed to restore everything else (Ihad a spare 6.4 bootdisk) but I would like to restore my 7.0 bootdisk back to its former self I have tried to read the man page for rdev but am not sure what the correct rdev parameters should be, can anyone give me a clue ? Thanks Pete
