Well, if his postfix is configured for maildir format in /var/spool/mail, but it isn't sendmail compliant. Also fetchmail can't store directly in that format as well as most clients that can't read it except through IMAP. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maildir)
Linda, the whole point of the shift to ~/Mail in the last century was to allow the expansion that came with maildir which isn't possible with /var/spool/mail/user. And sendmail grew up on Berkeley bask in the 2.x days, before we had proper IP networking. Berkeley had a cobbled together set of 'networks' for mail delivery that included UUCP. The whole point of the sendmail of that era was that it was 'multi-protocol'. I don't know that _fetchmail_ can store in any format... all I've read is that it hands off to some kind of MDA, be it to 'port25' or to a command line as specified by the "mda' directive. I see nothing in the fetchmail manual that indicates it can store mail itself and not make use of a MDA/LDA somehow. -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
