Hello! Thanks folks for all replies - it is really good to know that SUSE community may provide good and fast support. Problem currently is the inability to use Gnome after switching to it and not to confuse topics I will start separate thread on it. That has happened to me, and I believe that you should kill X, become superuser, and run fc-cache. I am not so certain it is fc-cache but it is some program having to do with fonts. If it were me I would wait until someone who _really_ knows answers, but if you are brave you might try the above. Henry Harpending On Fri, Jun 25, 2004 at 12:11:35AM +0200, Jacek Blaszczynski wrote:
Found Answer myself - menu provides appriopriate choice at graphical user login dialog!
Unfortunately after starting Gnome session I get some icons on desktop, no fonts and error dialog with unreadable message! Can not switch to any other runlevel or start console/terminal or even go through soft reboot - machine is suspended with full DoS in place. Whats wrong this time? All KDE+Gnome apps and libs are installed, including all develeopment versions, fonts as well, full update was performed (except for kernel). I do run SUSE 9.1 with expert, development, KDE, Gnome, number theoretic libs and many other scientific libs included. System runs as a guest OS in VMware v4.5.2 running on WinXP SP1 Pro fully patched.
Any ideas?
Jacek

Hello!
I am first time user in SuSE doing some application portability testing (.NET - Mono). I need to switch to Gnome environment but after doing some searches in SuSE documentation and lists ended up with nothing precise.
I would appreciate some little help in that matter.
Cheers
Jacek
