As I said, not foolproof, there will be some miscreants who will seek out and spoof, but their numbers would be minimal compared to overall number of jackasses.
This way is overall rather effective, I've done it myself with lists I've ran (as well as use DNSBL's for rejecting messages from known proxies, TOR project prevents SMTP IIRC, but there is a DNSBL with TOR exit nodes, so that can be used as well, along with better and tighter anti-spam rules)
Time for likes of Google to stop aiding and abetting these so and so's, and put X Sender IP in the headers.
