Hallo Liste, mir kam eben eine Idee, Ihr habt da bestimmt mehr Erfahrung: ich habe unter DOS mit Turbo-Pascal gute Erfahrungen gemacht (ohne komische Fenster). Dabei hatte ich immer den Compiler von Borland. Welche Compiler unter Linux/Unix sind da fuer den Umsteiger am besten zu verwenden? Beruflich arbeite ich auf einer IBM 390 Kiste unter ASM und Cobol 85. ASM und Cobol habe ich mir autodidaktisch (heisst das so?, ich meine ohne Schule) beigebracht. Programmiererfahrung ist also da ... ASM auf dem PC erscheint mir zu kompliziert, ohne Hilfe zu lernen, aber gibt es gute Cobol-Compiler fuer Unix/Linux? Oder macht es mehr Sinn, kleine C-Kenntnisse (innerhalb eines 1-woechigen Seminars unter DOS erarbeitet) weiter auszubauen? Guter Vorsatz, aber mal ganz langsam. Nichts überstürzen.

Nicht schlecht wäre es sich auch mit Skriptsprachen wie perl oder der bash zu befassen. Damit kann man schon eine ganze Menge erreichen. Anders als bei DOS sind die Compiler auch nur Compiler. Der Editor, Debugger,... sind davon unabhängig. Such Dir einen Lieblingseditor aus. Da gibt es emacs und vi. Beide haben Anhänger. emacs ist sehr umfangreich, vi ist sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig. Ich kann damit aber besser umgehen als mit allen anderen Editoren, da ich meine Finger da belassen kann wo sie sind. Auf der Tastatur ohne Cursortasten oder Zahlenblock bemühen zu müssen. Es gibt aber noch eine Menge anderer Editoren, auch solche die denen bei DOS ähneln. Befasse Dich mit make. Er macht soetwas wie project bei Turbopascal, kann aber viel mehr, auch mehr als das dortige make. Ebenfalls kanst Du Dich mit gdb befassen den Debugger. Ist ein Programm erst mal geschrieben und übersetzt, macht aber bei der Ausführung Probleme, so kann strace weiterhelfen. Es gibt also noch viel zu tun. "Such Dir eine Lieblingsfarbe aus, Du hast die Auswahl zwischen schwarz und weiß" Das Beispiel passt hier eigentlich mehr als gut ... wenn Du einen Editor bezeichnest, der außer editieren noch kaffe kochen, Zeitungs lesen, browsen, therapieren kann, dann nimm emacs (viele Farben ergibt weiß, emacs ist #FFFFFF+1 =hyperweiß) Wenn Du einen Editor suchst, bei dem man auf den ersten blick gar nicht sehen kann, daß er überhaupt geladen ist und den man (sollte man als Anfänger den Fehler gemacht haben) nur unter Zuhilfenahme eines Handbuchs weder beenden kann, ein Programm welches voller Möglichkeiten steckt aber man es nicht gezeigt bekommt ... ein Editor ohne alles heißt vi und ist schwarz (genauer #000000). Wenn man es bunt liebt, dann ist man zum Glück entgegen Deiner Theorie bei Linux nicht aufgeschmissen ... ein Bischen emacs vermischt mir ein Bischen vi gibt es auch hier ... Wer was schnellen übersichliches und intuitiv bedienbares für die Konsole will nimmt zB pico, solls ein ausgewachsener Editor sein (ohne Firlefanz!) dann kann ich nur nedit empfehlen. Ohne einen Glaubenskrieg anzetteln zu wollen möchte ich besonders Umsteigern von DOS/Win diesen Editor empfehlen, da er sich im Gegensatz zu emacs mit den Hotkeys aus der M$-Szene gut arrangiert (Navigation mit Cursortasten, Markieren mit Shift+, Springen mit Pos1, Ende, Bild auf/ab und so weiter) Er beherrscht ebenfalls Sytax-Highlighting für eine Vielzahl von Sprachen und Formate. Vor allem ist er halbwegs intuitiv bedienbar. Zum Kaffeekochen kann man sich ja mal das coffee-Mini-Howto durchlesen (Mini-HowTo -->Hintergrundwissen --> Coffee) :-) Ach ja, damit auch unsere Anfänger (die hier mitlesen) was davon haben wärs vielleicht gar nicht so schlecht, wenn jeder, der sich berufen fühlt, seinen Lieblingseditor kurz nennt und beschreibt ... bitte keine doppelten (emacs, vi, pico und nedit sind schon genannt) ... Hallo! Für DOS/WINDOWS-Umsteiger ist meiner bescheidenen Meinung nach Joe am ehesten lohnend. Ansonten in X-Emacs interessant. Ich benutze ihn z.B. für meine Homepage und die meines Vereines. Er braucht zwar etwas Speicher, aber selbst mit einem 2000.- Dm ALDI-Rechner (kein Werbung ;-) läuft er schnell und stabil! Hallo Raphael, mir ist nur kein anderer Editor eingefallen und hatte keine Lust nach Editoren zu suchen die ich doch nicht kenne. Also habe ich die beiden bekantesten erwähnt. Ich weiß nicht warum Du unbedingt einen Glaubenskrieg vom Zaun brechen möchtest. Mein Liblingseditor ist bei Dir sehr schlecht weggekommen. Darum erlaube bitte, daß ich auch etwas positives dazu sage. Richtig ist, vi ist nicht intuitiv und ist unmodern. Da erst mal reinzukommen ist schwieriger als bei anderen Editoren. Wenn man es aber erst einmal kann, so hat er doch einige Vorteile. Ich sehe es als Vorteil an, das ich nicht dauernd mit der Maus rumfummeln muß und auch den Cursor ohne die Cursortasten zu betätigen, bewegen kann. Auch copy, past,... funktioniert ohne die Alphbetische Tastatur zu verlassen. Wenn man mit 10 Fingern schreibt ist das ein erheblicher Vorteil. Man bleibt im Schreibfluß. Nur die Esc-Taste muß man sich auf shiftlock legen. Einerseits weil die Esc-Taste die einzige Nicht-Schreibmaschinen-Taste ist die vi braucht, zum anderen weil ein unbeabsichtigtes shiftlock böse Folgen haben kann. Auch finde ich gut, daß man nur wenige ctrl- und alt- Griffe braucht. Das andere den vi nicht mögen ist mir klar und kann ich gut mit leben. Linux hat viele Editoren und jeder wird sich den aussuchen der ihm/ihr am Besten gefällt. Es ist schon in Ordnung, daß Linux viele Sachen von DOS/Win übernimmt, aber nicht alle kommen aus der Win-Welt. Ich komme, wie einige andere hier, von Unix und möchte mich auch weiterhin in Linux zurecht finden. Hallo Liste, vi läuft auch über die schlechtesten Terminals/Telnets, denn die Tasten a-z, 1-9 und ESC klappen immer. Keine Probleme mit F-Tasten, Pos1, Ende, und so fort ... Außerdem gibt es vi auf eigentlich jedem Unix/Linux System. Immer schon installiert. selbst ihr alle "schleppt" ihn mit euch rum. ... und auch für dos, os2, ... Man muß nicht jedesmal einen neuen Befehlssatz kennenlernen, wenn man nun mal in ein anderes System kommt. joe: wer wie ich, noch aus CP/M Zeiten kommt, und mal mit WordStar gearbeitet hat, kennt die WordStar Tastaturbefahle. Auch unter TurboPascal 4.0 gab es die. Für Textverarbeitungssysteme unter Dos lange Zeit Standard. joe baut eben hierauf auf. alle anderen: wer sie gerne benutzt, bitte, ist doch OK. Es gibt keinen Besten Editor. Lebt glücklich mit dem, was ihr habt und gut. Und selbst der, dem ein "echo Textinput >> textfile" reicht, soll froh und glücklich damit sein. Da wird zwangsweise wieder ein Krieg draus. Besser scheint mir, dass die Interessierten einfach mal mit YaST durch die Paketbeschreibungen gehen und sich die passend klingenden Programme selbst ansehen. Nicht jeder wird zur gleichen Meinung kommen. Und mit einer Maschine gross genug oder der Erfahrung im Umgang damit sind auch emacs und vi nicht schlecht. Das Problem ist wohl, eine halbwegs stimmige Konfiguration hinzubekommen UND nicht gleich nach dem ersten Eindruck von zwei Minuten das Teil in die Ecke zu werfen (BTW habe ich meinen ersten jed- bzw emacs-Aufruf auch bereut und nur mit der zweiten Konsole und kill "beheben" koennen :). Wenn hier aber Befuerworter und Gegner bestimmter Editoren mit ihrer (zugegebenermassen "gewachsenen" statt implantierten) Meinung in einem Thread aufeinandertreffen, gibt's evtl Tote :> Mindestens werden etliche *plonks* und "Hoert auf!" kommen und einige "Ich nehme doch hier nicht teil, wo Schlachten stattfinden -> unsubscribe" ... Der Zeitpunkt ist nicht gut fuer eine derartige Diskussion. Und er wird (bis auf kleine Kreise untereinander Bekannter) auch nie gut sein :) Die Zeit und die Bandbreite koennte man sinnvoller dafuer verwenden, nochmal auf den Umgang miteinander (und mit anderer Leute Ressourcen) insbesondere ueber solche Kommunikationskanaele wie es die EMail ist einzugehen. Da scheint mit dem immer leichter werdenden Zugang nicht ueberall die noetige Sensibilitaet zu herrschen. Aber auch da resigniert man irgendwann weil's sinnlos scheint ...
